Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. Its system handles the query and response. Knox County Criminal History does not keep a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained for as long as needed to answer it. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary server logs can collect technical information when a page loads, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure how visitors move through the pages. Analytics providers combine that traffic data so the operator can see which material is useful and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Knox County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of anyone's criminal records. Its reference material identifies the Knox County Sheriff, Kentucky courts, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry as official record channels. Public-agency access is governed in part by the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, while KRS 17.150 addresses dissemination of criminal intelligence and investigative information. Neither law makes this private resource a record custodian. Visitor information is never compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention schedule, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. Review those terms before sending a query because this policy does not control the partner's systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff, court, Kentucky agency, legal organization, or private tool. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy rules govern. Those rules should be read before personal information is supplied.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing is outside this site's direct control.

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. A verified report that someone under 18 supplied data will be addressed with deletion where appropriate.
