Questions about an official Knox County criminal record should go to the office that created or maintains it. Court filings and dispositions belong with the Circuit Court Clerk, sheriff reports belong with the Sheriff's Office, and booking or custody details come from the Detention Center. City police reports stay with Barbourville or Corbin, while Kentucky State Police handles the state criminal-history repository. The contact routes below identify those custodians. This private reference site cannot retrieve, change, certify, or file a government record.

Need an Official Record?

Choose the custodian by record type. A single arrest may produce a police report, jail booking, District or Circuit Court case, and state repository entry, each held through a different channel.

  • Court case files and certified dispositions: contact the Office of Circuit Court Clerk at 401 Court Square, P.O. Box 760, Barbourville, KY 40906. Call 606-546-3075 for Circuit Court or 606-546-3232 for District Court. Published hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to noon.
  • Sheriff reports and sheriff-held records: contact the Knox County Sheriff's Office, 234 Court Square, Barbourville, KY 40906, at 606-546-3181. Call first to confirm custody and the current copying cost.
  • Booking and custody records: use the official Knox County Detention Center channel. No stable public county booking-search form was found in the official sources.
  • Kentucky criminal-history responses: use the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch. The general-public name-based service requires the subject's permission and is submitted by mail or walk-in.
  • Barbourville police reports: contact the Barbourville Police Department and confirm the city records custodian and request method.
  • Corbin police and city records: contact City Clerk Tori Brock, 805 S. Main Street, Corbin, KY, at 606-528-0669 or tori.brock@corbin-ky.gov. City office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A related court file may be in Knox or Whitley County, depending on where it was filed.

For an existing Knox County case, the Circuit Court Clerk is the legal custodian, not the statewide Administrative Office of the Courts. If an older file is stored elsewhere, ask the clerk for its case and file-locator numbers. For an agency report, give the incident number if known, date range, location, originating agency, and exact record requested. Kentucky open-records requests should describe an existing document rather than ask the agency to create a new report.
